NAME:Matt IngleTITLE:National Promotions ManagerCOMPANY:Provident Label GroupFORMATS:AC/CHRLOCATION:Franklin, TNBORN:South Bend, INRAISED:Bremen, IN
Brief Career Synopsis:
Sports writer, "The South Bend Tribune" (2000-2003, during college), English teacher, Independence High School, Franklin, TN (2004-2007) and freelance music/culture writer for various publications (2003-present)
1) What made you want to get into the music business?
I love building relationships, creativity and music in that order. This job offers a heaping spoonful of all three.
2) What's your take on current music?
There have never been more opportunities for a "nobody" to be somebody, but it probably won't make your rich. It's still all about finding the pop "formula". It's tough to describe in a Q&A, but I can tell you that Justin Timberlake and Nickelback have found it.
3) Which PLG artists are you currently working with?
Brandon Heath, Eleventyseven, Pillar, Red, Krystal Meyers, Matt Maher and Kelly Pease
4) If you could have any job outside the music business, what would it be?
Writing the next great American novel
5) What book have you read that has touched you or taught you the most?
Outside of the Bible, no book has challenged me as a husband, father and friend as much as Stu Weber's "Tender Warrior."
6) What is the most precious memory of your life so far?
Trading confused stares back and forth between my son Alex and me for several minutes after he was born and we were left alone in the nursery.
7) What's in your CD player right now?
The new Jimmy Eat World and Fireflight albums and Colbie Caillat
8) What are your musical guilty pleasures?
Tons! I can probably go down the musical alphabet from AFI to Wham.
9) Does working with the PLG crew, particularly Steve Strout, make you wish you were back teaching school?
There's really not much of a difference. Instead of constantly dealing with PDA in the hallways between a teenage couple, it's with Steve and A.J. The Strouts are definitely more tasteful though!
10) If you were stranded on a deserted island, what three things would you want with you, and why?
An experienced Navy captain named Gordon, a U-Build-It heavy duty sailboat kit and a guitar. My guitar and I will provide a breezy, coastal soundtrack for Gordon while he's putting together our ticket off the island.
Bonus Questions
1) Cat or dog person?
We have two cats but they both hate us. I guess that makes me a dog person.
