1) What was your first job in radio? Early influences?
My first radio job was at a country radio station in WV during my summer break from college between my junior and senior years. My early love of radio comes from my family. I can't ever remember a time growing up where the radio wasn't on at my house. We were one of those cheesy families that sang along with the radio while riding in the car.
2) How do you prepare for your show day? What's your biggest challenge?
I do an hour of show prep. I look up local and national events and also I think about things that have happened in my personal life that would make a funny story. I have a 4 year old so she is a part of a lot of my stories. The biggest challenge for me is making sure to pick the right things to talk about. I always want to be interesting and relevant.
3) What has made your show successful?
I have been on middays for 7 years now and the listeners have been through a lot with me. The biggest event that listeners still comment about today is when I had my little girl. We did a couple of contests surrounding that.
4) What is your most memorable on-air moment?
The first day that Love 89 went from satellite to live and local. I had just graduated from college and gotten married when I started working for one of Love 89's sister stations. I was told that Love 89 was going live and that I was going to be the mid-day host. This was my first full time radio job. It was so exciting to hear our own radio station go on the air.
5) What is your favorite show feature and what makes it successful?
I love being able to share my life with our listeners. I believe that sharing little stories about my husband and daughter help to make me like a friend to our listeners. Like a friend sharing a story over lunch.
6) If you were just starting out in radio today, but you knew what you know now, would you continue forward?
Yes, I love everything about radio. I love talking to the listeners and I really like being able to meet the artist and hear their hearts about the music.
7) If you could have any job outside the music business, what would it be?
I love to cook. I would like to start up a bakery with my mom that sells cakes, pies and cookies. My mom makes the best pumpkin pie.
8) What is it that motivates you to be 'All You Can Be'?
Our listeners. To give them the best we can.
9) If you could ask God about anything, what would it be?
My husband actually has a great question. He wants to ask God, "Why he only has one dimple on one cheek while most people have one on both cheeks.
10) What is your favorite quote?
I love the statement "to be in the world not of it." That is how I try to live my life.
