Mike DeWayne Smith / Drums / Pastor's kid, started playing drums at age 15, moved to Houston in 1999 and met the rest of the band at IHOP / Outgoing, funny & crazy
Jack Anthony Mooring / Keys and BGVs / Started playing piano at age 16, pastor's kid and is currently youth pastor as well as older brother of Leeland / Mom of the band, responsible & fun
William Jacob (Jake) Holtz / Bass / Started playing bass at age 14 for church, cousin to Jack and Leeland, his mother is currently the co-pastor for his home church / Big heart, funny, life of the band
Leeland Dayton Mooring / Lead vocals and guitar / Grew up in music, pastor's kid, started playing guitar at age 14, helps lead worship for youth service when at home / Creative, passionate & mature
Jeremiah Adam Wood / Lead Guitar / Grew up in ministry, started playing guitar at age 13, and plays for the worship team when they are home / Generous, musical & friendly
2) In ten words or less, how would describe the sound of Leeland?
A passionate and direct call to a new sound of worship!
3) Who are Leeland's musical influences?
Godfrey Birtill, U2, Coldplay, Delirious, Keith Green....a lot of worship and British bands.
4) How have you seen/heard your musical skills grow over the last couple of years?
Playing and recording in the studio for the first time has had a big impact on all of us as musicians.
5) Can you offer a brief history of the band?
Our first show was as the Leeland Mooring Band in the summer of 2002. Seamlessly from there we became the band Leeland, put together of cousin Jake Holtz, brothers Jack and Leeland Mooring and good friends Jeremiah Wood (met through church) and Mike Smith (met at IHOP).
6) Does Leeland have an end purpose in mind?
For everyone that hears our music, both young and old, whether in a live setting or from the record, that their lives will be changed by the presence of God.
7) If you weren't doing Leeland, what would you be doing?
Jack - Full-time youth pastor
Jake - Working at Starbucks and going to college for psychology
Lee - Full-time worship leader pursuing college music degree to compose and write music for movies
Jer - Going to college for business and music
Mike - Children/Youth pastor
8) Tell us a tale you have from the past year on the road?
Staying at the Red Carpet Inn that had blue carpet. Mike slept on the dresser with his head behind the TV at that motel.
9) What's the most important message on the debut record?
The most important message to us from the album is the message behind "Tears of the Saints," speaking about having a heart for the lost.
10) What's the best part about your hometown when you're actually there?
Our families, church and awful movie theater

Slamming on the brakes and screaming while someone is asleep.
