1. How did you first become interested in radio?
I fell in love with radio as a kid growing up in Brooklyn, NY! There was nothing like waiting for one of your favorite songs on one of the many classic radio stations in NYC.
2. What is your number piece of coaching advice for new air talent?
Begin with the end in mind. If you know where you want to go, you have a much better chance of taking your listeners there.
3. What does Christian radio do best?
Connecting with listeners on a deeper level especially through this crazy 2020. Christian radio has consistently been "The Place" for hope and encouragement. The louder the noise and distractions, the sharper the contrast and need for Christian radio.
4. How are you programming for the growth of the digital/ on-demand audience?
Currently, we are trying to build our individual PAR brands through an app called Encouraging Radio. The app also includes online only radio stations and soon to include podcasts and other original programming that will live exclusively on the free app.
5. What would surprise people most about you?
I am the only believer in my family in full time ministry.
6. What is one thing you’d wish you’d known about radio when you first started?
Life's biggest thrill is more than just a great segway and a hot jingle package.
7. If you weren't on the radio, what would you be doing for a living?
It would certainly be in a place where I could serve people and add value. Perhaps a counselor role or something like that.
8. Who is a talent outside of PAR that you really respect?
I love the authenticity and warmth of Lisa Williams. I'm a long time big fan!
9. What are you most excited about looking forward to 2021?
It won't be 2020. Seriously, just some good old interaction with family, friends, co-workers, and our listeners. A return to the many things I took for granted.
10. What do you like to do for fun?
Radio, real estate, education, baseball, time with my wife, laughing with friends, and hanging with my seven grandsons.
