1. Please tell us about your career journey? Markets I've worked in:
Greenville, SC
Memphis, TN
Charlotte, NC
Portland, OR
Atlanta, GA
& now I'm home at last with EMF on Air1 based in Nashville, TN.2. Share the most challenging part of your career.
Being good. Having something meaningful to say. Still gotta work hard at that every day. It's a discipline.
3. The best coaching advice you've ever received was...
"Before a break, pick up your phone & pretend you're talking to someone you know. When you're on the air, it'll keep you from sounding like a DJ..." - Dylan Sprague - Still do it!
4. How do you continue learning and growing?
Always stay humble. Being on the radio can trick you into thinking that what you have to say is interesting. I like to assume most people are too busy to care. The world is loud! It makes me earn their attention. Also I'm never above throwing everything I think I know out the window and trying something new.
5. What’s one thing you wish you’d known about radio when you first started?
See question 3 :)
6. Tell us about someone in our industry who you really respect and why?
Jesse Addy on 94.7 New York City's Country is the greatest! He's a longtime friend & I'm always in awe how he can be so effortlessly charismatic... He's my favorite DJ in the industry!
7. What would surprise people most about you?
I rarely listen to the radio when I'm not on the radio. 4-5 hours a day is plenty. Plus I think this prevents me from mimicing someone else's style... Keeps me sounding like me. That's what I tell myself at least.
8. What’s on your nightstand?
A lamp my wife picked out.
9. What are you most excited about this year?
Pinch me, I've just started a new show on a nationally syndicated brand. It literally feels like the opportunity of a lifetime! It's a platform I don't deserve, but I'm gonna try to earn it with a lot of hard work and a thankful attitude... And YES! I'm really excited!
10.What do you do for fun?
Absolutely nothing. I've got 2 young daughters and free time is sparse. When I've got a break from life, I just really love a good chill... With my wife or some friends or anyone who also knows the value of a good chill... I'm only 39, but I realize that sounds like such an old man answer.
