1. Please tell us how 2020 changed your relationships?
One of the most significant ways that 2020 changed relationships I had was the intentionality in them. It was very easy to get siloed off from a lot of people - each of us in our own little world, and so I had to get very intentional with people that I wasn’t seeing often. Making sure to not let friendships become out of sight, out of mind.
2. Share the most challenging part of the past year.
My family and I entered the world of foster care this past year and that has by far been the most challenging (and exciting) thing we’ve done as a family. There are a lot of ups and downs that come with this territory, a lot of unknowns… so many things are out of our hands. But we’ve learned to walk in the ebb and flow of that world.
3. Some really great advice you received recently was…
Spend just as much time being quiet and listening to God as I do talking and bringing things to Him.
4. How do you continue to deepen your relationship with Jesus?
Outside of reading the Bible, a consistent prayer life has been so key for me. Praying without ceasing throughout the day - bringing Jesus into all the little aspects of life.
5. Share about that new song of yours.
“What A Good God” is a song that focuses on that one key aspect of God’s character - His goodness. Over the past year - walking through this season with our foster son, we have been reminded of God’s goodness over and over again. Every prayer request that we bring, every heartache, every stress we might feel, we can bring to Jesus, knowing that His response, His heart for His children, is good! He is looking out for us.
6. Tell us about someone who you really respect and why?
My wife is at the top of the list of people I respect. The things that she carries - from her ministry, to being a mom, from the big platform things that reach a lot of people, to the intimate quiet things that nobody else sees. She’s one of the most consistent, steady people I know.
7. What would surprise people most about you?
When I was growing up I played in a band and my mom was the drummer and she rules.
8. What’s on your nightstand?
A plant, a fan, an iPhone charger, and some earbuds so I can watch Seinfeld and The Office while I fall asleep :)
9. What are you most excited about this year?
I’m excited about the songs I’ve been writing and getting them out into the world. I’m excited about the season my family and I are in - my kids are a lot of fun right now, and seeing them step into growing up is always exciting.
10. What do you do for fun?
Game nights with friends, tennis, riding motorcycles, listening to podcasts.
