1. Please tell us how the past couple of years changed your relationships?
As a result of the challenges that came along with 2020-21, I definitely noticed that my relationships with family and friends dove into much more meaningful territories. So much of the surface level conversations and check-ins were traded in for more honest conversations and heart checks. I can definitely see the good that the Lord planted within and throughout a tragic season for so many. The empathy that grew in my personal relationships was definitely a really beautiful area of growth.
2. Share the most challenging part of the past year.
The most challenging part, and yet also the most fruitful part of the past year was the sheer amount of stillness and quiet I found myself in. I had so much time of prayer, reflection, questioning, tears, joy, and so many other emotions. That kind of stillness definitely pushed me out of my comfort zone and out of the comfort of a busy calendar and schedule. It was difficult in many ways, but I feel as though it truly pushed me to go deeper in my faith and relationships.
3. Some really great advice you received recently was...
Being busy doesn’t always equate to being productive.
4. How do you continue to deepen your relationship with Jesus?
Finding alone time to read scripture and pray is massively important to me in deepening my relationship with Jesus. On the other side of that, I also find a lot of richness in surrounding myself with community and fellowship in the continual pursuit of a deeper relationship with the Lord.
5. Share about that new song of yours.
“For the Good” is deeply rooted in Romans 8:28. The verse has been such a lifeline for my immediate family and myself over the past few years as we’ve walked through a challenging season of loss together. While so many of those wounds are still healing, we’ve been able to see so much good as a family unit as we’ve grown closer in love, empathy, and faith.
6. Tell us about someone who you really respect and why?
I’m currently on the road with my friend Tauren Wells. He is truly such a kind and spirit-filled believer. It’s been a massive blessing to not only watch him use his talent and gifting in such an incredible way, but to also hear his wisdom and perspective on life, faith, and music.
7. What would surprise people most about you?
I’m a born and raised Nashvillian! People are always so surprised when I tell them that. I grew up on Southern Gospel music in music city!
8. What’s on your nightstand?
My AirPods, my water bottle, and a fan for white noise! 9. What are you most excited about this year?
9. What's something you're looking forward to this year?
I’m honestly so excited and so grateful to be back on the road playing music live. It’s been a tough year for the music industry, so I’m extra aware of what a blessing it is to be able to travel and share these songs.
10. What do you do for fun!
Workout, sleep, cook, eat, family time!! Those are my favorite ways to rest and relax.
