1) What's the story behind the hit single "Dear X, You Don't Own Me"?
"Dear X" is a song about writing a letter to the things in our past. There are things in our past that used to control us, manipulate us and enslave us. Jesus said that anyone who sins is a slave of sin, but he who the Son has set free is free indeed (John 8:34-36). This song is a letter to the things that used to enslave us,and boldly proclaim to them that we are now free and they don't own us anymore.
2) Upcoming tour plans?
We're going out with Thousand Foot Krutch and RED this fall. Pretty excited about that!
3) And with all the touring you guys do, how do you guys keep it fresh?
Touring actually helps keep it fresh. Keeping it fresh at home is much more difficult. You think it would be the other way around, but it is not, for any of the guys in Disciple.
4) What's the message behind the new album "Horseshoes & Handgrenades"?
Rediscovering innocence, God's passion for us and his relentless pursuit of us. Passion for holiness and eternity, and standing strong in the difficult moments in life.
5) Do you have any humorous or interesting or inspiring stories from recent radio visits?
Wally from Total Access on WAY-FM had us play a game where they blindfolded me, and Micah tried to throw a shoe on to my raised fist. There was a purpose to it all but too much to explain. Pretty gross and hilarious.
6) Other than a t-shirt or CD, what do you hope people leave a Disciple show with?
A closer relationship with Christ: that is what it is all about for us.
7) Do you have a favorite song to perform live?
"Dear X" is my favorite song to play live right now. I love how everyone is singing it with us.
8) Where is your favorite place to play? Do you have a favorite city/venue?
My favorite place to play is Germany. I love the Underground in Cincinnati because they have this shuffleboard game that I play and I play it for hours when I am there.
9) What song do you wish you had written?
"Beautiful Day" by U2
10) Do you have much time to check out other artists' music? What are you listening to right now?
Ed Kowalczyk, the former lead singer of Live put out a Christian album and it is amazing.
