1) Tell us a little about your musical journey and how you became Kimber Rising.
Our group started a little over two years ago. A friend of ours who worked at a management company told us we should start a girls group and honestly at first we declined because we didn't think music would ever be a major part of our lives. But we decided to pray about it for a couple weeks and at the end of it we all came to the same conclusion: this is God. It was the first time for all of us that we clearly knew God had made us for such a time as this. So we immediately started working together and haven't looked back since.
2) What's the story behind the new single "Soon"?
"Soon" is all about waiting on the Lord. We all know that when you're in a trial it never seems to end, but God asks us to hold on because he is and always will be taking care of us. When Brianna and I (Amanda) co-wrote this song, we were definitely going through a hard time of waiting, but really heard the Lord say that his time was thankfully not ours and to hold on. We wanted to help encourage others to do the same.
3) What's the message or theme behind the your album "Here We Go"?
Our journey over the last two years has definitely been an interesting one. We've had a lot of people say that we couldn't accomplish all that we have set out to. People have said business just isn't what it used to be and trying to make a difference with so little resources would be impossible. So really the theme behind this album is in the title "Here We Go." We choose to believe that there is a God that is bigger than ourselves so we are walking forward no matter the cost. These songs have our entire hearts poured into them so that God may be glorified and lives be changed.
4) Do you have a favorite song that you perform?
Actually all three of us have different favorites. Brianna's favorite is "Say The Name," Danielle's favorite is "Hallelujah," and Amanda's favorite is "Soon."
5) Who or what inspires you guys to keep doing what you're doing, creating music and staying on the road?
Honestly, the people that inspire us the most are some of the people that we are surrounded by everyday. Our friends and families have been amazingly supportive and have sacrificed so much for us to get here. Especially our parents letting us put thousands of miles on their red minivan. [smile] We wouldn't be here without them.
6) Do you have any humorous or interesting or inspiring stories from recent radio visits?
Well, all of our radio visits so far have been amazing. But we do have some really funny and/or embarrassing stories from the road. The very first show we ever did, Amanda tripped and fell walking out on stage, and the drummer added a little extra effect to make sure everyone knew what happened. Then we had just gotten done with a show in Montana, we were all walking off stage and the lights went out. When they came back on, Brianna was laying on the ground. She had missed the steps and fell five feet off of the stage. Thank goodness she only had a few bruises (and a sister who couldn't stop laughing). Danielle strangely hasn't had any embarrassing stories yet, but we are just counting down the days.
7) Upcoming winter or spring tour plans?
We will be doing a tour this Spring in and around Texas and Oklahoma and we are working on some great Fall tour opportunities.
8) Where is your favorite place to play? Do you have a favorite city/venue?
One of our favorite places to play was Myrtle Beach. We performed on a stage right next to the beach and as soon as we were done there was a big fireworks show. What could be better than that! We also loved Utah, Montana, Texas, Oklahoma, Kentucky, West Virginia; I could list every state because we have loved going to them all!
9) What song do you wish you had written?
I would say we all wish we had written "I Can Only Imagine."
10) Do you have much time to check out other artists' music? What are you listening to right now?
We spend a lot of time in our van so we love checking out other artists' music. Right now it's Kerrie Roberts, Needtobreathe, Newworldwon, 33Miles, Jonny Lang, Israel Houghton, Beckah Shae, Mandisa, and yes, we'll admit it, Justin Bieber.
