Ginny Owens will release her first new studio project in five years, "Get In, I'm Driving," on August 23. The album chronicles Owens' journey over the last few years and is her most personal offering to date. Produced by Owens, David Das (Rebecca St. James, Katharine McPhee, BarlowGirl) and Monroe Jones (Third Day, Mark Schultz, Holly Williams), the album is a smoky, smooth, jazz-tinged R&B with some pop music mixed in.
"I grew up listening to R&B, hip hop and soul. I got into jazz while I was in college, and I'll admit there is a part of me that loves straight pop music," says Owens. "My dream has always been to be versatile enough musically to play a club on Saturday night and a church on Sunday morning, and why not? People in both places love music and are desperate for hope."
