Music legend ANDRAE CROUCH died last week following complications from a heart attack. The GRAMMY and DOVE Award winner passed away surrounded by family on THURSDAY, JANUARY 8th, 2015 at approximately 4:30p PT, at NORTHRIDGE HOSPITAL MEDICAL CENTER in the LOS ANGELES area.
ANDRAE's sister, Pastor SANDRA CROUCH, commented "Today my twin brother, womb-mate and best friend went home to be with the LORD. Please keep me, my family and our church family in your prayers. I tried to keep him here but GOD loved him best. Details of ANDRAE's Celebration Service and Tribute will be forthcoming."
CCM artist JASON CRABB added, "To say the legendary ANDRAE CROUCH was an influence on my life would be a vast understatement. One of the highlights of my career was to perform his classic song, 'The Blood Will Never Lose It's Power', as he played the piano during a BILL GAITHER video taping. I'll never forget it. We've lost a true pioneer and he will be missed."
ANDRAE penned some of the most well-loved songs of the Church, including "My Tribute" (To God Be The Glory), "Jesus Is The Answer", "Soon And Very Soon" and "Take Me Back". His songs have been recorded by everyone from ELVIS PRESLEY to PAUL SIMON, and he has worked as a producer and arranger with many of music's top artists, including MICHAEL JACKSON, MADONNA, QUINCY JONES, DIANA ROSS, ELTON JOHN and many others.
ANDRAE's accolades include seven GRAMMY Awards, six GOSPEL MUSIC ASSOCIATION DOVE Awards, an ACADEMY AWARD nomination for "The Color Purple," induction into the GOSPEL MUSIC HALL OF FAME and a star on the HOLLYWOOD WALK OF FAME.
