400 KCBI Listeners Volunteer For 'Summer Of Service'
Over 400 FIRST DALLAS MEDIA Contemporary Christian KCBI/DALLAS listeners volunteered at three local ministries last SATURDAY (7/16) as part of the station's annual "SUMMER of Service," nearly doubling previous years’ turnouts. The volunteers and staff served at EMBRACE GRACE, MISSION ARLINGTON and BUCKNER SHOES FOR ORPHAN SOULS. At EMBRACE GRACE, INC., volunteers assembled and prepped 1,200 'Love Boxes' for single and pregnant moms. “It is an honor to partner with KCBI for its 'Summer of Service,'” said Co-Founder/President AMY FORD. “We are thankful for the hundreds of KCBI volunteers that came and assembled over 1,200 Love Boxes for single and pregnant moms. That translates to a potential of 2,400 lives saved!” MISSION ARLINGTON/MISSION METROPLEX hosted volunteers that prepped back to school backpacks and sorted clothing. “Many of the school supplies they put together were delivered that very afternoon,” shared MISSION ARLINGTON’s JIM BURGIN. “They were already in the homes of families who needed them before the volunteers who helped went to bed that night.” Volunteers at BUCKNER SHOES FOR ORPHAN SOULS prepped over 2,000 shoes to be placed on the feet of kids whose parents otherwise couldn’t afford them, just in time for going back to school. “This is answered prayer,” said KCBI AGM/Outreach Director SHARON GEIGER. “More volunteers than ever before responded to this year’s 'SUMMER of Service,' which means we were able to do even more with our ministry partners. We are blessed to have so many listeners in DFW who are willing to put their faith into action. Their love for JESUS shone brightly as they gave so much to so many in need.”
