Welcome back to “Conversations With Kendall.” Today we are going to get real. As we enter what feels like day five hundred of Stay At Home…Quarantine… whatever it’s being called these days, I know I am beginning to wonder where the light at the end of the tunnel is. Unemployed and wondering how long I am going to be able to sustain my way of life, I scour the internet for job opportunities and reach out to every working friend I have, hoping for an opening. What an intimidating obstacle to face for so many Americans. One part of my brain comforts my ego by saying, “Hey, millions of other people lost their jobs too, don’t feel so bad”… but the other part of my brain, the logical, bigger picture part of my brain is saying “MILLIONS OF PEOPLE ARE UNEMPLOYED?! WOW that’s just incredible!!
I’m supposed to be Miss Healthy Positive though right? Insert positive anecdote here, LOL. Despite the times we are in, history has proven that times of great adversity or devastation bring one of two things, an opportunity to reform and restructure inadequate elements, or … well, we don’t need to talk about the other one. My point is that I believe everything happens for a reason and wherever the chips fall is where they are supposed to fall, we will make it out of this a stronger and more unified country… Are your fingers crossed? Cross your fingers.
Due to many being laid off, furloughed, or unemployed, the hunt for side hustle income is more active than it has ever been. The uncertainty of the duration of the COVID-19 pandemic has left people feeling like they need to get something cooking, for the sake of financial stability.
Network marketing is the hottest train to be on right now, thanks to social distancing. I have been doing some extensive research into the topic. If you’re anything like me, you hear network marketing and run for the hills, network marketing PTSD. Although, I will admit, I have recently been enlightened and am less of a poo-pooer.
I was able to conduct a few short interviews with the very people relishing in the fruit of their network marketing positions. Sales Associates, District Vice Presidents, and Group Leaders all had insightful information to offer when discussing this booming business. Gathering responses from different levels of management was helpful in understanding the operation of these network-marketing companies and the satisfied attitudes of their representatives.
Sales associate Stephanie Contreras had an interesting answer when I asked her what she had to say in response to the stigma surrounding pyramid schemes. She said, “The product you represent isn’t your business, people are your business.” She claimed, “The persistence is a sign of commitment and a testament to how much they believe in their product. Ultimately, they just want to share their products benefits with people, as it has benefitted their lives.”
District Vice President Jessica Gray asserted that the three pillars of success in network marketing are “Getting in early, choosing a product that disrupts the market, and to have a great team of supports and mentors.”
I think it’s safe to say I’m talking to a bunch of outgoing team players that definitely know how to positively disrupt the market. Perhaps this chapter of quarantine is the opportunity to do some research, get in early, and be financially saved from this crisis.
It’s not like we are busy doing anything else! Try some new things and get creative. The only way to discover hidden talents is to try new things, maybe this is the new you or at least a new extension of you to explore. Go get em tigers!!!
