Banjo player Scott Vestal was the recipient of the 8th Annual "Steve Martin Prize For Excellence In Banjo And Bluegrass" at the "45th Annual Rocky Grass Festival" in Lyons, CO on Saturday, July 29th. Peter Wernick, aka Dr. Banjo, presented Vestal with the award. Along with the recognition, Vestal received $50,000 in cash and a bronze sculpture created by artist Eric Fischl. Vestal owns a recording studio, Digital Underground, where he engineers, produces, and plays on various projects. He has also worked with the likes of Bill Monroe, Billy Ray Cyrus, Alan Jackson, Dolly Parton, and several others.
