George Strait
Jan 10, 2011
The "King of Country Music," MCA Nashville artist George Strait, has made a pact to wear red every Friday on his tour and is now encouraging fans to do the same. It's all part of an initiative called "Red Shirt Fridays," to show support for our troops. It is not a political organization but a way to let our country's servicemen and women know we support their sacrifice and will not forget them by wearing red on every Friday.
Strait, a veteran himself, began wearing red at his concert on December 24th.
"The holidays are a time to be with your family and friends and to be thankful and I can't think of a better gift to the women and men serving our country than to show them how much we appreciate them and are thinking about them," said Strait. "It's a small gesture but together it does make a difference especially for those who can't be here with us."
"Starting this Friday we are going to wear red shirts to every Friday's tour date and we encourage the fans to do the same," he added. "I want to see a building full of red shirts if possible."
