Feb 14, 2011
Lionel Richie is going Country on his next album, which is due out this summer. In the 1980s, Richie established his Pop music success with the debut of his 1982, self-titled album that sold over 4 million copies. Since then, he's sold more than 100 million records, as a solo artist or as a group member of The Commodores.
Richie is also known for composing Country legend Kenny Rogers' 1980 number one hit "Lady" and he is going to work with many Country artists for his newest project. According to producer Tony Brown, Richie has so far completed duets with Darius Rucker, Tim McGraw, Kenny Rogers, Willie Nelson, Little Big Town, Blake Shelton and Jimmy Buffett. Sugarland's Jennifer Nettles and Zac Brown Band are also expected to be a part of the project.
"We're having a blast," said Brown. "Lionel is the coolest fun guy, and he's blown away by the musicians here."
