Emrose/Stroudavarious/Nine North artist Margaret Durante was recently asked by Hot Rush Productions to sing guest lead vocals on two songs they were recording for Disney's new tween series, "Shake It Up." The show airs on Sundays at 8:30p (ET).
The songs, "Watch Me" and "Break Out," have been featured in recent episodes of the show. "Watch Me" was used as the theme song during the season's premiere episode, which garnered 6.2 million viewers and has totaled an estimated 500,000 views from fan-posted videos on YouTube.
"My heart and soul are rooted in Country music, but I've always been a fan of all kinds of music," said Durante. "When my friends from Hot Rush Productions asked me to go in and record these songs, I thought it would be a lot of fun to make music that is stylistically different from the music on my album. Of course, it's really exciting to have some music on the Disney Channel, too."
Durante's new single, "Maybe Tonight," ships to radio in March in advance of its April 18th add date. The single, which she co-wrote with Rachel Proctor and Blair Daly, will also be featured on a special four-song digital EP, released on April 19th online. Both projects are being produced by James Stroud.
