Feb 28, 2011
According to music blog Hit Fix, Arista Nashville star Carrie Underwood will appear on Tony Bennett's new album of jazz standards, called "Duets 2." The album is a follow-up to Bennett's 2006 "Duets" album, which earned him two Grammy awards.
This is Carrie's second time to perform with Bennett, the first time being when she appeared alongside Tony, Michael Buble and Josh Groban to sing "For Once In My Life" on the Oprah Winfrey Show in December 2006.
Other artists collaborating with Bennett on "Duets 2" include Amy Winehouse, Josh Groban, k.d. lang, Michael Buble and more. The first "Duets" album was released in conjunction with Tony's 80th birthday, and now "Duets 2" will be released on Columbia Records in September, a month after Tony's 85th birthday.
Next up for Carrie is the release of her first big screen feature, "Soul Surfer," which tells the true story of teen surfing champion Bethany Hamilton, who lost her arm in a shark attack. Carrie plays the role of Bethany's church youth group leader. The movie hits theatres April 15th. The trailer is available for viewing now at www.ew.com.
