Show Dog-Universal Music artist Toby Keith has set his annual Toby Keith & Friends Golf Classic for May 20th and 21st. Proceeds benefit the Toby Keith Foundation's efforts to build the OK Kids Korral, which will provide a home for pediatric cancer patients and their families while they receive treatment in Oklahoma City.
"OK Kids Korral is going to be different than any other facility in our area," Keith said. "We are doing our best to address issues that arise while a child is in treatment such as weakened immune systems and sensitivity to light. More than anything, we want it to be a home of inspiration, encouragement and hope."
Now in its eighth year, the event has a "Denim & Diamonds" theme and will again feature live and silent auctions, a dinner, entertainment and a day of golf.
Keith's personal connection to the cause dates to 2003 and the loss of Allison Webb, the young daughter of close friends. In Webb's memory, Toby helped her family create Ally's House, which provides financial assistance to families of children with cancer. He extended his efforts in that cause last year by turning his foundation's focus to creating a cost-free, state-of-the-art overnight lodging facility where multiple families can stay as they work to get their little ones healed.
"We¹ve committed to building OK Kids Korral and it¹s no small feat," Toby said.
