Capitol Records/Nashville artists Lady Antebellum and Darius Rucker have partnered with Republic Nashville artist Martina McBride to support the Muscular Dystrophy Association. The singers taped special performances at the Grand Ole Opry on June 8th in Nashville, which will air during the televised MDA Labor Day Telethon, on September 4th.
MDA National Goodwill Ambassador, Abbey Umali, made sure Rucker was apart of the action after sharing a special moment with the singer during Nashville's Country Radio Seminar last March. The two performed Rucker's, "Come Back Song" in front of a packed house.
The organization is also dear to Martina's heart, who made a young girl's dream come true in 2004. "I encourage everyone to tune in to the Telethon and support the Muscular Dystrophy Association," said McBride. "MDA sends thousands of kids with muscular dystrophy to magical week-long summer camps each year, funds worldwide research and maintains nearly 200 clinics to help families across the U.S. It's important we continue to help MDA help so many others."
Lady Antebellum's Hillary Scott added, "Charles, Dave and I always have a great time performing at the Opry, and this one was extra special since it will be included in the MDA telethon on Labor Day. It warms our hearts to be part of the nearly 50-year tradition that means the world to families living with muscular dystrophy."
The singers also taped a telethon tune-in message which will be broadcasted during August and September through television and radio.
