R&J Records artist Aaron Lewis is gearing up for his second annual It Takes A Community Foundation benefit concert, which supports the organization Lewis and his wife Vanessa founded. It Takes A Community Foundation helps revive rural communities through the greater New England area.
The event will take place at The Pines Theater at Look Park in Northampton, MA on Friday, August 19th, and Saturday, August 20th. Friday's lineup will include Rhett Akins, Frank Hannon of Tesla and Alexa Carter, and Saturday's show will feature Tesla, Corey Taylor of Slipknot and Stone Sour, Lo-Pro and Otan Vargas. Lewis will perform both days.
Lewis created the charity after his three out of five elementary schools in his hometown closed due to budget cuts. The organization works with local leaders to raise funds and support community groups, such as schools.
Lewis said, "My family has been directly affected by school closures in our rural area due to state budget cuts. We have seen firsthand the necessity for smaller communities to have a voice and to determine their own local needs and priorities. Our foundation strives to do just that-to build a collective of local community members and empower them to take charge of their own community's future."
