Dixie Chicks
Aug 1, 2011
The Dixie Chicks are joining the ranks of John Mayer and Maroon 5 as they help launch the Fans First Coalition, which is a non-profit organization formed to protect fans from fraudulent ticket purchases. More than 30 artists are on board as well to help raise awareness about the threat of resale ticket sites.
The Washington D.C. based organization was created in May 2011, and even though the music industry was the company's direct target, sports teams, artist-management companies, and over 60 U.S. music venues are supporting the cause as well.
The Fans First Coalition mission statement states the company's prime goals will be to ensure fair access to reasonably-priced tickets, ending deceptive marketing practices, full disclosure, and clear pricing display.
Though the Dixie Chicks are currently not on tour, group members Emily Robison and Martie Maguire confirmed via web chat earlier this year, the trio, including Natalie Maines, are working on new music together.
