Blake Shelton
Dec 5, 2011
Even though Warner Music Nashville artist Blake Shelton is known for saying some off-the-wall things on Twitter, he has joined the "Free To Tweet" campaign, which is an online celebration of the First Amendment - freedom of speech.
The project begins at midnight on Thursday, December 15th, which will last the entire day, and is sponsored by the organization "1 For All." The program asks students between the ages of 14-22 to tweet their support for the First Amendment, using the hash tag #freetotweet. It will automatically enter them in a contest to win one of 22 $5,000 scholarships.
The CEO of "1 For All" Ken Paulson told CMTT, Shelton would be a great fit for the cause because, "free speech comes naturally to Blake Shelton. Candor and integrity are hallmarks of his career and we're very pleased to have him join this effort."
Other Country artists apart of the campaign include Joe Nichols, Frankie Ballard, Mary Chapin Carpenter, and Jana Kramer. Ellen DeGeneres, Ke$ha, and John Mellencamp, are supporting the cause as well.
