Jerrod Niemann
Jun 18, 2012

Jerrod Niemann is a busy man these days. Not only is he on tour with Miranda Lambert, but he is also gearing up for the release of his sophomore album, "Free The Music" on October 2nd .
"'Free The Music' is an album where I wanted to do just that. It's a project honoring many different layers and colors that have appeared in the Country genre since recorded music began," said Niemann.
Two years in the making, this record comes from a very non-traditional stand point. Jerrod used brasswind horns, and used his live band instead of the typical studio players. They also incorporated a recording technique called "The Clasp" in the production sessions.
Rejoining forces with producer Dave Brainard, Niemann brings a whole different flare to Country music blending rockabilly and reggae together.
The first single off the record is "Shinin' On Me," co-written with friends Lee Brice, Rob Hatch, and Lance Miller. Singer/ songwriter Colbie Caillat also lends her talents to the ballad, "All About You."
To kick off the 2012 CMA Music Festival, Jerrod performed cuts from the new record at a Fan Club party with Lee Brice to benefit the Muscular Dystrophy Association on Monday, June 4th . With nearly 400 fans coming out to show their support, Brice and Niemann signed autographs for each and every person for 10 hours straight.
Long-time fan Drena Knorr was celebrating her birthday that night and said, "I appreciate the fact that they're taking time to spend with everyone -- that's one of both artists' best qualities. It's been a really long day. All I want to do for my birthday is meet Jerrod and Lee." She patiently waited in line from 1:30p in the afternoon to 11:30p that night.
