Nov 25, 2012
Arista Nashville artist Kix Brooks is headlining a benefit concert called "Instruments a Comin'" on Saturday, November 24th at 7p (CT). Brooks will be returning to his home state of Louisiana to play in The Shreveport Municipal Auditorium.
Through the Tipitina's Foundation, 100 percent of the proceeds will be going toward the purchase of musical instruments for outstanding school music programs in the Shreveport and Bossier City, LA areas.
"Instruments-a-Comin,'" which is now in its 11th year is a program that has purchased 2.5 million dollars in instruments for more than 4,000 students in the New Orleans, LA area, and is now expanding into the Shreveport-Bossier, LA area. The Tipitina's Foundation has already been worked with Huntington High School in Louisiana for their future donation of over $20,000 worth of new instruments for their band program.
The Thanksgiving weekend concert will be opened by blues guitarist, Sonny Landreth, and it will be one of the first times Brooks has played in his home state ever since he went solo from his duo Brooks & Dunn earlier this year.
Tickets are available at The CenturyLink Center box office, all Ticketmaster locations, Shreveport/Bossier area Wal-Mart locations, online at Ticketmaster.com or charge by phone 800-745-3000. They start at $30 but go up to $250 for VIP packages.
