Aaron Watson
Feb 15, 2010
Unrest Music Group/Edgehill Music artist Aaron Watson has kicked off 2010 with a great start. He has already won two awards, provided aid to two charities, and topped the Texas Music Chart with his single, "The Road."
Aaron took home two Gruene With Envy Awards on January 13th, including "Songwriter Of The Year" and "Live Album Of The Year" for "Deep In The Heart Of Texas: Aaron Watson LIVE." The Gruene With Envy Awards, currently in their 10th year, are the largest fan voted awards in Texas. Aaron and Eli Young Band were the only multi-award winners this year.
That same week, Aaron was among the artists visiting St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN. He hopes to make this an annual trip.
"I have helped a lot of local stations in the past with their St Jude's telethons but actually going there, meeting the people involved, seeing the hospital and being a part of the whole event really made an impact on me and I want to be involved with this charity every year," said Aaron.
Aaron wrapped up the week performing his first annual "Honky Tonkin' For The Hungry" at Billy Bob's in Fort Worth, TX and helped raise over $10,000 for Fort Worth's initiatives "Directions Home" and Union Gospel Mission homeless shelter of Fort Worth. Both of the organizations help to provide necessities for the city's homeless.
Aaron performed for over 3,000 people, his largest attendance ever at Billy Bob's, and Mayor Mike Moncrief of Fort Worth proclaimed January 16th "Aaron Watson Day."
To cap everything off, "The Road," the lead single from Aaron's upcoming record, made it to #1 on both the Texas Music Chart and Texas Regional Radio Report. Now, he is back to an active tour schedule with plans to play Texas, Oklahoma, Kansas, Arizona, and California in the coming months as well as putting finishing touches on his new studio album due out later this year.
