Johnny Cash
Jan 5, 2014

During a career that started in 1954 and continued until his 2003 passing, the legendary Johnny Cash recorded an estimated 167 albums, a body of work which makes it hard to believe any of his music could have been lost in the shuffle.
Remarkably - and thankfully - that is the case, as Legacy Recordings, the catalog division of Sony Music Entertainment has announced the release of "Out Among The Stars" for March 25th.
Originally recorded between the years 1981 and 1984 in Nashville and produced by Billy Sherrill, the album surfaced in 2012 while Cash's son, John Carter Cash was cataloging his father's and mother's exhaustive archives in Hendersonville, Tennessee, and at the Sony Music Archives.
The 12-song collection includes duets with Cash's wife, June Carter Cash and his longtime friend, Waylon Jennings. The musicians on the record are a who's-who of studio players that include Hargus "Pig" Robbins on piano and a young Marty Stuart on guitars and mandolin.
John Carter Cash, along with co-producer and archivist Steve Berkowitz, enlisted Marty Stuart, Buddy Miller and Carlene Carter, as well as other master musicians, to collaborate in restoring the album at the Cash Cabin Studios in Hendersonville, TN.
Though not due until March, "Out Among The Stars" can now be pre-ordered here.
