Country legend George Jones will release a double CD set on February 23rd called "George Jones: The Great Lost Hits." The collection, released by Time Life, will include rare and out of print songs from his career. The tracks were originally released by the Musicor record label between 1965 and 1972. The double CD includes 34 songs which were culled from over 250 recordings that Jones made with Musicor. On the same date, a special 12 track, single CD version will be exclusively available at Wal-Mart as well as digitally at www.Walmart.com.
"The Great Lost Hits" includes songs like "A Good Year for the Roses," "Walk through this World with Me," "I'll Share My World with You," "Love Bug," and "When the Grass Grows over Me." Fans can also hear the original version of "Beneath Still Waters," which later became a #1 Country hit for Emmylou Harris and "Your Angel Steps out of Heaven," which was later recorded by Elvis Costello, Flying Burrito Brothers and others.
The set also includes the original version of "Where Grass Won't Grow" that George later recorded with Trisha Yearwood, Dolly Parton and Emmylou Harris. Another song is "World of Forgotten People," which was written by Loretta Lynn just for Jones, and Tammy Wynette anonymously singing on "Never Grow Cold" soon after they began their relationship.
