Nashville Songwriter
Aug 24, 2014

Music biographer Jake Brown will release "Nashville Songwriter (The Inside Stories Behind Country Music's Greatest Hits)" on September 9th nationwide. Every song tells a story, and in his new book, Brown will reveal the stories and secrets behind some of the most popular songs in the format. The book is set to expose the fact that the majority of hits were written or co-written by an elite club of songwriters, twenty of whom are exclusively interviewed within the pages. This team of writers share their stories behind popular hits from Kenny Chesney, George Jones, Jason Aldean, Willie Nelson, Luke Bryan, George Strait, and many others.
In addition to sharing the stories behind the songs, the songwriters also share wisdom about the craft and career of songwriting itself. "When I hitchhiked down here when I was 18 years old, it wasn't because I thought I'd get rich off of it, it was because I loved it. As far as advice to the next generation of songwriters: write, write, write, write, and write some more," noted BMI's 2013 Icon Award winning songwriter Dean Dillon. "I'll leave you with this: I can promise you that your 500th song will be better than your first one."
