History has been made, as Dolly Parton and Kenny Rogers have received their first joint CMA Award Nomination since 1986. The nomination comes for their collaboration on "You Can't Make Old Friends" in the Musical Event of the Year category. The track is featured on Dolly Parton's latest album, "Blue Smoke," as well as on Kenny Rogers' album, "You Can't Make Old Friends."
"I'm so honored to be nominated for CMA Musical Event of the Year with one of my absolute best friends, Kenny Rogers!" exclaimed Parton. "It really is tur that 'You Can't Make Old Friends'."
The nomination is the fifth CMA Awards nod for Dolly & Kenny ad a duo, having been previously nominated for single of the year in 1984 for "Islands In The Stream" as well as Vocal Duo of the Year nominations in 1984, 1985, and 1986.
"Whether we win or not, it was an event for me being back together with my good friend, Dolly Parton," said Rogers. "I have great respect for everyone in this category, and there's no way you can lose being in that group."
The winner will be revealed at "The 48th Annual CMA Awards," airing live on ABC-TV on Wednesday, November 5th at 8p (ET).
