Conway Twitty

The comparisons between Country singer Jeff Bates and legend Conway Twitty began early in Bates' career. "People always told me I sounded like Conway, and though I never agreed, I always took it as a compliment," explained Bates. "I think it's because we were both from Mississippi, enunciated similarly, and we both have that gravel sound in our voices. If people wanted to think that I sounded like him, then so be it. I could spend my life arguing about it, or I could just continue to write songs and sing what I felt. Then about three years ago, I decided I would own it."
Bates owns it in the best way - a tribute to Twitty - releasing the album "Me and Conway," featuring six of Twitty's biggest hits along with six of Bates' own. The album also features a special duet track with Loretta Lynn, who agreed to re-record her classic duet with Twitty, "After The Fire Is Gone." Lynn heard Bates sing the song at her ranch in Hurricane Mills, TN during the annual Conway Twitty Weekend and agreed to cut the track as part of the Twitty tribute from Bates.
"He is one of the best singers I've ever heard in my life," exclaimed Lynn. "I love him, and Conway Twitty would have loved him!"
"Me and Conway" will be available beginning Tuesday, November 11th via retail stores, Amazon, and iTunes and can be preordered at www.JeffBates.net.
