Hank Cochran

Songwriters Dean Dillon, Jamey Johnson, and others are set to salute Hank Cochran during a November 16th tribute concert. Dillon and Johnson will host the event that will star a gathering of friends of the late songwriter. The night promises to be stacked with unforgettable music and memories.
Dillon and Cochran are likely best known for their writing partnership that produced the George Strait hits "Ocean Front Property" and "The Chair." The pair spent many hours on the waterways of Tennessee and Florida, sharing a love of boats and writing.
"Hank was definitely one-of-a-kind," remembered Dillon. "We had some remarkable times together, and I'm happy to be a part of this tribute. His legacy deserves a tip of the hat."
Johnson met and became close to Cochran later in years. In 2012, Johnson released the Grammy-nominated album "Living For A Song: A Tribute To Hank Cochran." The two were great friends, and Johnson is a natural fit as co-host for the event.
"If I had to dream up the best influence for songwriters, I couldn't have done any better than Hank," said Johnson. "That's what he was - not just for me, but for Willie and for a lot of people - just a helpful friend. If he knew you needed help with something, he could help you. He was there. I want to be that kind of man for the people in my life; same as Hank. He influenced me, not only as an artist and songwriter, but also as a person."
The lineup of friends includes tunesmith Scotty Emerick, songwriter and producer Buddy Cannon, and singer/songwriter Jesse Whitley. The tribute show will kick off the final evening of the 10-day "30th Frank Brown International Songwriters' Festival" held at the world-famous FloraBama Lounge in Perdido Key, Florida.
Cochran was a long-time devotee of the FBISF, having performed numerous times on the event's stage. "Hank was a great supporter of this festival," said FloraBama Lounge owner and FBISF founder Joe Gilchrest. "He was a wonderful friend to me, to songwriters, and to musicians of all stripes. He is sorely missed, but I know these guys will do him proud."
