Miranda Lambert, Justin Moore, and RaeLynn
Feb 1, 2015

RCA Nashville female powerhouse Miranda Lambert took her "Certified Platinum Tour" on the road recently, and in her second week out, she visited Thompson-Boling Arena in Knoxville, TN. Along with support from Valory Music Co.'s Justin Moore and RaeLynn, the newly-dirty-blonde bombshell rocked the town.
RaeLynn opened the evening with songs from her debut EP entitled "Me." Donning hot pink Doc Martens and her trademark spunk, RaeLynn performed to a full house and never missed a beat. The newcomer showcased her range of talent and ever-growing stage presence as she warmed up the crowd, even managing to pose for selfies with fans from the stage mid-set.
Justin Moore took the stage immediately following and was warmly welcomed by a town that responds well to his pure, Country vocals. Reminding the audience of his solid presence and staying power in the format, Moore performed a catalogue of hits including "Point At You," "Small Town USA," "Bait A Hook," and "Lettin' The Night Roll" to a roaring crowd singing every word back to him. In true southern gentleman fashion, he waved, bowed politely to the crowd, and thanked everyone for the support he's received throughout his career. A highlight of the evening was Moore's performance of "If Heaven Wasn't So Far Away," which saw the arena full of fans lighting up the night with cell phones in support of the beautifully delivered sentiment. At the end of his set, Moore dropped to his knees in humble gratitude, taking in the moment as fans rose to their feet for a standing ovation.
No sooner had Moore departed the stage than cheers from the crowd arose in preparation for Lambert's entrance. The simply decorated set allowed Lambert to shine as she packed in hit after hit with barely a break for a sip of water between. From the opening number ("Fastest Girl In Town") to her final bow, Lambert had the arena on their feet. A surprising cover of Wilson Pickett's "In The Midnight Hour" graced the middle of the set, showcasing her unmatched range of genre-busting talent. Album cuts "Priscilla," "Smokin' And Drinkin'," and "Platinum" garnered just as much applause and sing-along as hits "Kerosene," "Mama's Broken Heart," and "White Liar." Emotional fan-favorites "Over You," "Automatic," and "The House That Built Me" blended perfectly with her hard-rocking current single "Little Red Wagon."
The night was a perfect blend of Rock, Country, uptempo, ballad, album cuts, and greatest hits - all delivered with the swagger that can only come from being the most decorated Female Vocalist in CMA history. The night ended with an encore that consisted of a stripped down set and three stools for Lambert, RaeLynn, and Lambert's current backup singer and noted Country artist Carolyn Dawn Johnson as the three performed a cover of the Dixie Chicks smash "Cowboy Take Me Away." Lamenting the need for more female voices in Country music, the three delivered solidly, leaving the crowd wanting more. Lambert delivered in typical style, with a change-up pitch straight into a cover of ZZ Top's "Tush" before exiting the stage.
While banter wasn't extensive throughout the evening - Lambert even glossed over the standard tradition of introducing the band - music proved to be the only conversation needed between Lambert and the packed house at the home of the University of Tennessee Volunteers. As the audience spilled out into the streets shortly after 11p (ET), no one was left wanting, and everyone was reminded of why Lambert will not soon be dethroned from the top of the heap.
