Don Henley

Eagles co-founder and noted solo artist Don Henley is the newest addition to the Country music family. The "Desperado," "Best Of My Love," and "The Boys Of Summer" vocalist will release his first solo album in 15 years, "Cass County," as a Country project via Capitol Nashville at a yet-to-be-determined date. The project was recorded in Nashville over the past several years and will feature guest collaborations that range from Merle Haggard to Mick Jagger and Alison Krauss to Miranda Lambert. Also included in the collaborations is Trisha Yearwood, for whom he provided background vocals on the 1992 ballad "Walkaway Joe."
While Henley may be noted as a Rock legend, it is best to note that his songwriting and lyrical stylings have always transferred well to Country music, as evidenced by the success of the 1993 release of "Common Thread: The Songs Of The Eagles," in which current Country artist took on the classic hits of the Eagles. Many of the singles from that collaboration tribute album found substantial radio airplay, including Travis Tritt's "Take It Easy," Clint Black's "Desperado," and Vince Gill's "I Can't Tell You Why." That album has been certified multi-platinum by the RIAA, so it is no stretch of the imagination to consider Henley a viable Country act given his writing and lyrical stylings and their crossover popularity.
