The Warden

Idol Records artist The Warden is releasing a debut self-titled solo album on Friday, October 9th. The Warden, also known as Ward Richmond of Dallas, TX, used to go on tour as bass player, songwriter, manager and sometimes vocalists for local bands, such as Slick 57 and Boys Named Sue. While he was still an active member of Boys Named Sue, he wrote a handful of personal songs that he wanted to record. "These songs are pretty personal so I didn't really want to create an opportunity for three other dudes to modify songs that I was already perfectly content with," said The Warden. "Boys Named Sue is a very collaborative effort and these weren't the right tunes for that project."
The Warden describes his new album as, "East Dallas honky tonk," and a good representation of the past 15 years of his life. "It's pretty much lyric-driven," he said about the album, "Our goal was to up the quality of the music in order to kick a little extra ass, and add some excitement to the lyrics. Basically, it is a tonked up autobiography with a little fiction thrown in for good measure. It's much easier to approach it this way, as a tonk album - and probably more entertaining for others - than attempting to write an actual book."
