WIRK Loves Veterans
Hubbard Broadcasting WIRK (New Country 103.1)/West Palm Beach, FL morning hosts Tim Leary and Chelsea Taylor gathered with listeners, veterans and active military members at a local Home Depot on Thursday morning (8/26) after receiving a call from 21-year Army veteran Erik Lynch, who shared that he had fallen on hard times upon his return home from serving overseas. Lynch told them that he was having a trouble affording the tools he needed for his new job at Atlantic Aviaton. Leary and Taylor contacted Wounded Veterans Relief Funds Exec. Dir. Mike Durkee, and listeners started calling in wanting to help as well. The station presented Lynch with a 500-piece tool set and a 12-drawer tool cabinet, along with cash donations from listeners. Lynch was also surprised by the Wounded Veterans Relief Fund, which enrolled him in their dental coverage plan, with plans to get him a brand-new set of teeth, after Lynch revealed that his speech is affected by dental problems.
