People Who Cheat (and steal and raid the frig)
It's a sad sad statement on my life that I spent a night watching reruns of "Cheaters" on some obscure satellite channel that I'm sure is only available in rural Minnesota.
"War Of The Roses". "Bait Your Mate". They've all been done. I still think that Hard Drive Raiders would be an interesting bit. We're in a voyeuristic society. Other people's despair makes us feel better about our own lives.
A toned down, and less-likely-to-end-in-a-knifing bit would be to find a listener who is having their foodpilferedfrom the company frig.
(And who HASN'T gone through that)
You spy cam it, catch the (Ch)eater and then confront them live in their cubical with the video evidence.
Conflict. Resolution. The ultimate formula for movie plots.Captive Audiences
Ever sit in the theater and stare at the ads while you wait for the previews to start? Millions of people do. I was at a brainstorming session in Edmonton and this came up. A month later at a chain of cineplexes, there was a station slideshow. The artwork looked like it had been ripped from a highschool yearbook: artist's as "seniors". If you have a good relationship with a local group, ask. One station just did and it's about to commence.
Clubs/Restaurants/Comedy
Back before Oprah got preachy, at least once a year she'd do a job switch with a listener and she'd be a cop or a flight attendant for a day.
The new venue for clients, the better-than-just-some-spots forum, is viral videos. As witnessed by Will It Blend. Could this dude have bought TV spots? Sure. Would they have been as effective and CHEAP as the video series? Hell no.
One of the DJ's last year did a video series for a client that was a comedy club. It documented the process as he was trained by a professional comic over several weeks, him writing his material and then he made his debut at the client on a Friday night. That was filmed too. Training the morning show how to cook for a restaurant client (setting themselves ablaze is assumed.) Bartending. There are a couple of genres of advertisers who would lend themselves to this. And it would as a bonus, be great content for the website. -
