Backyard Concerts
The first of summer 2017 is coming to a market that could be loosely defined as "being near the water, somewhere south of Halifax but somewhere north of Gainesville." Chew on that. A listener will win a teen act that I'm not familiar with because I'm old as dirt, in their backyard on a holiday weekend.
If you have not ventured down the road of giving away a show in a listeners backyard, let me remind you of Rule #1:
- Make sure they have a backyard.
I brought this up with a CBS station that was doing something similar in 2008 and was on the receiving end of one of the most profane emails I've ever gotten. And of course the winner lived in an apartment and the act refused to play in the community room.
So maybe invite them to give you a video tour of their place is part of the entry process.
Bonus Entries
If you haven't spent a night on this site, just going around and seeing what other brands do for on-line and social media contesting, do. We tend to be very insular about how we look at the world. You might pick up some ideas. http://www.sweepsadvantage.com/new.php
We all do click-and-register to win contests. And it's very very exciting. If you are going to do these things, then get more from it than just a like or an email address. Kind of like this Hawaiian giveaway does.
New Sources Of Morning Show Features
I've never really understood why we don't use some of the games that people do on places like youtube. If two girls in Seattle can get 36 million views doing "What's In My Mouth", well, that's not entirely awful. And James Cordon has a ton too.
Innuendo Bingo started at the BBC and Alphabeticall has been a great follow up.
And there's a whole load of morning games waiting to happen right here. http://vloggingpro.com/youtube-challenges-list/
