Great, Kind Of Forgotten, Contest Methodologies
Radio has the attention span of a Golden Retriever. We’ll see something shiny and it’s off to the next thing.
CBS re-discovered High/Low in 2010, even though V in Atlanta has been doing it since 1910.
“Secret Sound” made a decisive comeback in 2014.
“The Thousand Dollar Minute” finally came South from Canada in 2017 and quickly started popping up on stations in a slew™ of markets.
In late 2019, Radio Fargo Moorhead, KOB-FM in Albuquerque and NOW in SFO dusted off Match Game. And it was Good.
Back To Back KILLS. Two songs, played back to back is the cue to call. When the first one plays, always a Power, the phones blow out. Q-93.5 in Columbia brought it back for the Beebs.
You can always add a third song (two powers and something random) for a Triple Play. As done by Menage A Gaga at KLUC in Vegas. Disregard the link name.
TikTokToe
People and entities as diverse as KS95 in the Twin Cities and Ingrid Michaelson have done “things” with sock puppets. For no reason that I can really recall, Dino Conrad at 103.7 The Q in Birmingham had listeners decorate and share their socks.
Why not have listeners trick out their big toe like an artist and share a video of it bopping to their music to win said-tickets?
You could also do TikTokDough and pay someone a measly dial position number of dollars if their creation or tribute to your station is used as the header on your social media. Much like the ALWAYS cool Q-105 in Tampa where they have totally captured the essence of the market. Static pics are boring.
