Desperate Ice Wives
Every four years people outside of Canada and St. Paul, Minnesota become fascinated with curling. And with the Winter Olympics and Valentines coming up, it feels like you have something you could play with.
Beavers Curling - YouTube
First done by KDWB where women in wedding dresses ice fished. Whoever caught the first fish, won a diamond ring. Also done with full court hockey rink shots by women in bridesmaid dresses at WOW Country in Boise.
You could have women (“in bridesmaid/wedding dresses” is assumed) taking a shot at curling OR you could have men pushing their wives/GF’s (“in bridesmaid/wedding dresses is assumed”) on innertubes on an ice rink.
‘Tis the season that jewelry clients give us bling, so you may as well have fun with it and not waste a great prize with a boring methodology.
Halftime Karaoke
If you’re into singing karaoke, then you’re usually really into karaoke. But it’s still fun to watch the bad performances.
(CPR Director of Computer Stuff Bel Boschi at her bachelorette party in Vancouver. Later that night she blew a dial position on a breathalyzer)
Your comedic elements with Superbowl, or the stuff that you can take and turn into something are food, the TV spots and the halftime entertainment. B-103.9 in Ft. Myers was the first station to do karaoke. off-air on Saturday nights with scrolling lyrics and music on the site. If you are out at a venue, what if you FB Lived some singing from your Superbowl party as an option for people who want to break away from the game at halftime.
Dudications
If you feel the need to do-the-opposite on Valentines, you can always play to our strength, which is Music. Instead of sappy love dedications, do “dudications”. And there are two ways to do it.
I got dumped five times by the same girl so I got on the air at the University of Minnesota radio station and played “Reason To Believe” 7 times and dedicated it to “that (bad word that I’m embarrassed I used) Rachel in Centennial Hall.” In 2014 I saw Rod Stewart at the coffee machine in the Admirals Club at the Miami Airport and told him about it. He replied, “I don’t imagine you’re the first DJ to have ever done that”…all the while scanning the lounge for security.
Or, it can also be a song that a breakup ruined for you. For me? “Once Bitten Twice Shy” still makes me want find a tall building with a ledge. So do it that way and promise ten or so people that you won’t play their song and ruin their 14th.
And obviously, the 80’s were a rough time for me.
