Twilight
Big monstrous film with rabid fans. This is more then a screening. People will show up in costumes, sleep over, yada yada yada. One of the stations is going to do a Weekend That Sucks. Since it's a film about vampires, there will be tickets sucked from an interns neck. Another option would be to do a blood drive. Parents come down, donate and get tickets to take the family to the movie.
Pluck A Bat
It's called "New Moon". If you have a liposuction client that wants to sponsor something, as Ned Reierson would say, "Bing!"
Stacy at Wird 96.3 is way more aesthetically minded then I am. She's going to have the street team in costumes...and pale makeup, greeting everyone at their screening.
Like a lot of you, Wired has a grand prize thing to do at their showing. As exciting as having an entry box with little paper entry forms, they're going to cover Shabrie (!) from the promo staff in hundreds of little black paper backs. Walk in, pluck a bat, and there will be individual numbers on the back of each one. Listen for you number at the end of the movie.
Highschool Podcasts
I had a weird drunken idea on the flight the other night that I shared with a few of you and at least two stations are going to try. (Which was, in the terms of my "group", an "enabling action") One of the stations took it and turned it into the concept of recruiting a duo or "PJ" from each school to, weekly, create a 15 minute podcast. Almost a morning announcement or even a series of breaks that they can add a song or two to. What's happening in the school. This is the #1 song that I did on a texting poll. Mr. Gavin is on a leave of absence because of Lyme Disease and the Junior Class is doing a bake sale for him. And here's a mix tape submitted by Carl The Janitor. The actual recruiting and solicitation process would be a campaign in-and-of-itself, plus it's just an excuse to market yourselves in the schools and retrain the kids on other ways to use Radio.
