A Backdrop That Will Draw A Crowd
http://www.monstermural.com is the link courtesy of Jackie Linn at Pamal in Pensacola. They got the attached artwork down and this will be there signage at large summer festivals, fairs, concerts and events. From Jackie: I used it at another station and it was amazing. Kids flock to it to paint or color with markers They have all kinds and sizes but I got a tarp that washes off so it can be re-used. They will also incorporate your town, landmarks, animals, people, whatever you want...(well probably not strippers or anything), but almost anything you want into the mural. The best part, its getting it paid for by a sponsor. Like for us (Nemours Children's Clinic.) Here's ours that they created. The logos stay in color, the rest of the mural is where the kids color. I can't wait to get it out at events!
When The Unexpected Occurs
K-97 in Edmonton had one of those tragedies that no corporate counsel has the crystal ball to predict or stop. They've been in Jamaica with a plane full of winners ....and one of the listeners passed way suddenly from one those things you don't know you had.
A real acid test for how the staff will handle a big hanging curve ball from God.
Melissa Wright, the midday host, sat with the husband for hours, packed up his wife's belongings and brought food and visited with him every hour just to keep his mind off what had happened.
Bill Cowan from the morning show actually went with him to the autopsy and spent the day with him helping him deal with police, doctors and with the 10,000 details that you have to deal with when you're out of the country and something like this happens.
He didn't have to do this. Not his job. But he felt that he should.
Gaga
Just to be stupid, and that's always a good starting point...if you wanted to focus on web traffic AND appt. listening, KRST in Albuquerque played Concentration at Christmas. Fly in Albany did it as Christmakwanzakkahuh. It was large.
One of the stations in Winnipeg shut down the internet in most of Manitoba last week when you could log on and watch street teamers get bodypainted.
Kiss in Charlotte covered the night guy in balloons and people on-site at the show could pop a balloon and win what's inside. Including backstage passes at her show.
Merge 'em both. We get a blond. We cover her in 50 numbered balloons and at appt. times you pick two. Say, 25 and 37. LIVE on the webcam, we see someone step up and pop them. Inside each is a prize slip. 25 was dinner at Chik Filet. 37 was Gaga tickets. Gagatracion. Hmmm...
Track the guesses, watch the girl get popped in real time.
