Re: Experience!

Contact your local community station and get in there. I worked for free at a small AM station for a few months before I got my first paying gig. Just remember, don't limit yourself to just the type of radio you want to do. Keep your options open by looking at anything that will get you in the door....

Re: What's wrong with Radio and how would YOU fix it?

I think the obvious repealing of the Telecommunications Act of 1996 would be a good start. Then legislate that an entity that serves the public interest can not be put on the stock market. You can't serve two masters, and when you have the big corps bowing to investors, you have regular RIFs and lac...

Re: Time for a seminar on writing job posts

Carter- Actually you are just the thread starter, or "OP" if you prefer, the thread belongs to everyone who posts. I really am trying to see your side of things Carter, but you are making it difficult to even associate because of this chip on your shoulder. You are attacking everyone who is offering...

Re: Time for a seminar on writing job posts

I'm trying to be on your side Carter but you are bringing this on yourself. I am trying to help you at least understand why you are in the middle of this storm with people who have been on this board for many many years. If you doubt the "vet" status of any one here, I'll tell you this; you never kn...

Re: Time for a seminar on writing job posts

I don't have a dog in this fight, and I'm not taking sides, but Carter, if you have other industry vets on other boards saying basically the same about you and your abilities as what is being said here, what makes you think that it must be the vets who are just attacking you? Remember, these are the...

Re: Always wondered-never had the guys to ask...

You're not too far off the mark. It's called "flanking" and happens all the time. The top performer is flanked with formats that won't necessarily draw great numbers but wont detract from the top performer either. The flanking station will also compete with other flankers in the market at competing ...

Re: Here's a familiar one

Btw- if this is a ten year old problem, then your right again, it's not funny- it's pathetic. And people who were here ten years ago, hopefully, have moved on. Just like on the air- a new audience every 15 minutes. Consider it recycling then. Or, I'll have to concede that all other Jocks, and you y...

Re: Here's a familiar one

It seems like you are just trolling for a response now, Carter. Watching you two go at each other is quite amusing but nothing of value is being discussed. I understand your attempt at comedy lampooning the job posts, but that's what radio has become. It's like poking fun at sea salt. No one really ...

Re: A technical question...

Again, not ADVOCATING you run the signal into the microphone jack, naturally you'd want to go with a USB interface or the line in. But to say it's impossible to run that way in a pinch, is less than accurate. I never indicated that it was impossible so my response can not be categorized as "less th...
