Accurate sampling by Arbitron of cell-phone only households are the key to Urban 18-34 year-olds, particularly males. This is true for both those markets currently being measured by PPM as well as those measured by diary methodology.

How has PPM changed what you do?

For one thing the jury is still out on whether or not PPM is truly a more accurate tool for urban radio,. but with it there is less room for error, more information to filter through and a lot of old programming rules to re-think.

Is PPM affecting Urban/Urban AC stations disproportionately

PPM methodology showed some deficiencies in the recruitment, retention and participation of the sample panels and these deficiencies have resulted in a significant under-representation of younger listeners.

How soon should you pull songs out of power rotation?

Pulling songs out of power permits a station to bang the re-currents a little longer and tolerate the burn factor a little more. Most sharp programmers say that a well researched jam is a better way to go than putting unfamiliar stuff on.

Have the cume combinations changed with PPM?

Under PPM, half of the average station's cume contributes 92% of the AQH. The other 50% of your cume is only giving you about 7% of your cume. On half are truly "engaged listeners."
