Budget cuts...

Post by RabbitBro » Tue Oct 13, 2009 2:30 pm

I recently heard about a station that let someone go and blamed it on "budget cuts," but then they hired someone new at around the same time. Can't you be sued for something like that if the person that got let go found out?

I don't think that "budget cuts" should be a valid excuse anymore. We all know that budgets are tight in this day and age, but speaking from experience, a pay cut is way better than being let go.

The only recourse you might have is if you have a CONTRACT and It has to be a Contract Stating a Specific Length usually 2 or 3 years, sometimes 5 yrs and then you should seek a Lawyer and you could sue for the remainder of the CONTRACT. My error on my last contract the Lawyer said since it was "Open Ended"-not for a specific length I was out of luck. If you had no contract I would assume you likely are out of luck...you can be fired for any reason including Budget Cuts and still be replaced...many times stations fire personalities just for the sake of change.
