The new generation of urban audiences is older, but still think younger and still like to hear new music. Urban AC stations tend to only play research proven classics. Where is this audience going to hear tomorrow's hits?
For those that are looking for new music or to supplement their urban favorite they are being to forced try other mediums and get their listening satifaction by crossing over to another format not discounting talk, pandora and other internet sources, satrad, cable and don't forget cell phone listening, HD maybe. There are entirely too many choices and sources for music. As listeners become more savvy in their use of new media, traditional radio will continue to feel the siphoning of revenue dollars. Traditional radio needs to find that balance of content and music and stop taking the listener for granted.
