How fast to flip a station?

Post by musicninja » Thu Dec 03, 2009 9:17 am

Just curiosity hitting me here but as a jock I feel like I'm obligated to know these things. There's been a lot of talk at my present station about undergoing a format flip. As I scroll through the Net News I see that this happens quite a bit and it usually seems to happen overnight. All of a sudden the jocks are gone and by Friday you have a new morning show and lineup for the week.

I really hope this doesn't happen right before the holidays but as we all know in this business, there are no guarantees. My only question is if there are any signs that my station is going to flip and how fast they actually do it.

When they start calling meetings to "deny the vicious rumors" circulating around about a format switch/station sale/re-structuring etc, etc.

When they deny it's true, you'll know that it is... indeed... true.
