Canadian lawsuit

Post by pbergin » Tue Dec 08, 2009 6:58 am

Keep your eyes on this.

My friends in both radio and the recording industry in Toronto regard this as the most significant event the industry has ever seen. It could cost the recording industry billions, using the very same compensation levels they are trying to impose on college kids and housewives who participate in peer to peer file sharing.

If they lose... which they very well might... it will devastate the industry.

I will have to check out the lawsuit. If it is anything like the legislation being pushed now in the U.S. Congress, it IS a sad day for Canada. The recording industry is pushing a "pay per play" fee to all U.S. radio stations. This is "supposedly" going to go to recording artists. Of course radio stations already pay gazillions to ASCAP and BMI...
