I am trying to re-invent the way my remote broadcasts are set-up.... we have the typical 10x10 logo tent, 6 foot table with table cover, balloons and stickers.... what I want to do away with is the 6 foot, bulky table with the vinyl cover.... any suggestions or links to websites that may help me?

I think the question is.. would you be giving anything out? The table is only standard because its convenient to put giveaways and upcoming event (ironic huh) information on. If you aren't giving anything away then simply putting a banner across the front would probably be sufficient. Another idea would be getting a station mascot and having him walk around. I've seen this done at a Top 40 station a while back and the kids were going nuts.

Well we do have a mascot, Wolfie.... What I would like to do is just do away completely with the 6 foot table... more and more we have less and less to giveaway at remotes, I'd like to have a more compact table or stand just to put the broadcast gear on....

I would just make a stand for Wolfie to stand on. You could place the speakers on the bottom and have him on the top occasionally handing out things (if you have them). This would do two things. Eliminate the need for a table and put your Mascot up a little higher and make him more visible.

This would be a simple project and you could put it on wheels to make it really easy to move. Put a cloth over it with the station logo and let Wolfie be the center of attention.

Just be sure to lock the wheels before Wolfie gets up or he'll start howling... :D

We use the junior gazebo. It is a bit cumbersome in the station vehicle, but is easy to assemble. The individual components are light weight, and once you get the hang of it, set-up takes less than 5 minutes. Had I been the one to choose, I would have picked one of the rectangles. Not as large but equally eye catching. Good Luck.

What do you want people to do at your booth? Just walk by? Get involved? If you want them to do something, you have to make it clear what they should do and how they can do it in a minute or two.

How do you plan to stand out from the other booths? Is the event being covered live? Why not? Get listeners on air. Can you tie it into a promotion, charity or advertiser to coop the cost? Build value or don't do it.

If you just want to be ignored, get a big sign and don't staff a booth. If you want the booth to be effective, know what outcome you want from your investment of equipment and people when it is over. Know how you will measure a successful day.

I'm going to be a bit biased in my reply because this is what I do.

Please consider adding Text Message Marketing to your remotes. A passerby can simply TEXT you station's call sign to 90210 and be automatically entered into a raffle. Once they opt-in into the text message their cell phone number and their name is captured by our system. The system has a built in RAFFLE feature so you can simply press a button and the computer will be a winner totally as random. You can even do a test message reply from the dashboard of the system to notify them via text message that they've won and have so many minutes to redeem their prize.
Now, before heading to your next remote, you log onto the website and blast out a text message to everyone in the data base that you have another remote this weekend, you give the name and address and you'll have even more people showing up and building your database or fans showing up at events.

Nothing could be easier or more affordable.

Text FrankB to 90210 to receive my contact information.

Good luck.
