Hey guys...I work in Country and Top-40, but like to listen to Contemporary Christian. It seems like there's only one format available. Where do acts that don't fit in with the AC/Top 40 sound go?
I have heard some really good Christian rock music...do they get played anywhere?
And is there any authentic Christian Hip-Hop. I'm sorry but Toby Mac's music is horrible. It sounds cheesy and watered down, and the other stuff I have heard in a similar vein is just as bad.

There are several formats in Christian Radio: AC, CHR, Rock and Inspo. There are also some stations and programs that focus on Worship music. Christian Hip Hop does not such a strong or defined presence on the radio. You probably only hear AC and CHR formatted stations as they have the largest numbers of stations playing that music. The Rock and Inspo format stations are fewer in number.

What, adambombs? You don't like tobyMac? I didn't think there was anyone out there who didn't like toby. Love the guts and honesty.
I don't mind him so much - he seems to actually talk about important issues for Christians today.
Maybe you're too old - and he's for a younger audience.

Coming January 18, 2010, you'll be able to hear every genre of Christian music on one station. The Kool2bChristian Internet Radio Network will begin streaming our first channel, "5040 Radio". This "All-Hits" station will have Top-40 CHR, Top-20 Rock, Top-20 Urban, Top-20 Gospel, and Top-20 Inspo. As for authentic Christian Hip Hop, check out daSouth.com.
